My friend the day before warned me about her dreaded experience on the bus with cockroaches (big and baby ones) running around the bus and she said she didn't sleep a wink the whole trip all wrapped up in a cocoon paranoid of the bugs.
The bus itself is a trip. Only the Asians could think of an invention. First you board and they give you a plastic bag to put your shoes in (very smart I say to keep the muddy/dirty shoes away). It is not a 2 deck bus but there are sleeping stalls, almost like bunks with 2 levels. You can lie almost horizontal to sleep or sit up too and I will post a picture later tonight.
I owe it to my wonderful hostel for booking my trip as the company I went with I guess is the best. We boarded at 6:30pm and as soon as we were on the road, the lights went off and that was it. So, what do you do but just sleep. There was quite a decent toilet on board (better than I expected) and slippers at the steps of it that you used to enter :). So sleep is what I did. It wasn't bad, I think I got at least 6 hours here and there total, maybe less or maybe more, but I feel pretty good here.
It was pouring on the way here but Hue seems to have received their rain earlier this morning and none right now. I got into my private room to wash up a bit and went straight for a walk along the river and across the bridge to stretch the legs. I prefer to stay away from the tours but I decided to get to Hoi An tomorrow so opted on my hotel's city tour which gets me lunch, and a river boat ride down to the royal tombs of the Dynasty leaders from centuries ago.
The tour will continue tomorrow to the Citadel and that is where a lot of the war history will be learned. It was a total of $6 with lunch included in the price so I went for it.
I plan to just wonder on my own in Hoi An without a tour when I get there since I will have a little more time.
:)
