Afternoon tour in Hue

After a buffet lunch as part of the tour, we headed to the giant Citadel in Hue town. This imperial palace area was heavily bombed by the Americans in the 1940's and it is now being restored as a UNESCO world heritage site. Once a bustling palace, it is now the site of restoration and mainly agriculture.

We headed to the most significant pagoda in Hue after this and then headed back to the main town via a river boat on the Song Huong River. I then went to explore the Dong Ba market across the river. A local market where literally everything and anything could be purchased. I sat down with some locals to eat a delicious brothy looking soup made of tofu and rice noodles and with a nice little kick of spice.

I will finish off my tour tomorrow morning visiting various royal tombs in the area before heading on a 3 1/2 hour bus ride to Hoi An town tomorrow afternoon at 2pm.
